Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation
Dean Randazzo, one of New Jersey's most successful professional surfer was diagnosed with cancer in 2001 and has been battling the disease ever since. He continues his comback to the ASP despite this setback. Their purpose is to raise money for cancer research and assist persons battling cancer with financial and emotional assistance.The foundation hosts several fundraising events throughout the year.
Brendan Borek High Tides Memorial Fund
The Brendan Borek High Tides Memorial Fund is a non-profit, grass roots organization, whose efforts are directed toward providing assistance to a child or young adult with cancer. Every summer in the 3rd weekend of August, Brendan's Fund holds a Surf Memorial Contest at 30th and Beach in Avalon, NJ to raise money for these special children and their families. Brendan's Fund holds a special place in our hearts.
Chip Miller Foundation
In March 2004, Chip Miller passed away from a little known disease amyloidosis. The foundation was formed shorly thereafter to help spread awareness of this disease and raise money for educational and research programs. Our goal is for earlier diagnosis to affect better treatment outcomes. If Chip Miller and his doctors were aware of the symptoms of amyloidosis when they first presented, he may still be with us today. A number of fundraising eevents are held annually, including the Chip Miller Surf Fest.
Plastic Free Ocean
This is a new non-profit organization and subsidiary of the Tom Jones Foundation, dedicated to raise awareness to spur consumer and government action, and raise funds for reserach and education to improve plastic waste management and to develop methods to clean-up the billions of tons of plastic waste that already pollute the world's oceans. Support Paddle 2010 as Tom Jones, who set the current SUP paddle record holder of 1,250 miles in 2007, paddles from Key West to New York.
